No Worries ~ We've Got You Covered!

FMCSA ~ When does your driver need testing?

  • Was there a fatality?
  • Was your driver cited and someone needed

medical attention away from the scene?

  • Was your driver cited and a vehicle was towed?

If you answered YES to any of the questions, then your driver needs a drug and alcohol test.

How much time do you have to get the DOT drug and alcohol testing completed?  Let us explain...

49 CFR Part 382.303

Attempt to get the drug and alcohol testing done as soon as possible, at least within 2 hours of the accident.  DOT states the alcohol test must be done within 8 hours of the accident and the drug test must be done within 32 hours of the accident.  Testing beyond those time restrictions is no longer necessary, but good documentation and a good explanation as to why the testing was not completed is a must.  Words of wisdom...  Don't MISS those deadlines!!
